Hello

Welcome to the Felted Friends website. My name is Jackie and I have been making felt animals here in my home on the edge of the Snowdonia national park for several years. Up until now I have been taking my felted friends to craft fairs and making individual animals to order, and over time many people have asked if I have a website: well, here it is, and I hope you will enjoy browsing through it, and finding out a little bit about the inspiration behind my felted animals, what they are made from and how they are made.

Although I have been making felt and running felt making courses for years It was a request from my daughter Holly, now 19, that started me on the path which has ended with this website and my Felted Friends business. Holly had been making little bits of felt herself now and then, but one day she decided that she wanted to make a felt animal. After giving it some thought she and I set about making a sort of bird. It had a huge beak, two very small and rather fat wings and one foot much larger than the other but we were immensely pleased with it. We called him Edward after a relation of ours with a large nose! Edward was the first felt I had made that wasn't 'flat' (bags and slippers weren’t quite the same), and it was Edward who became the 'father' of all felted friends to come. Since then I have made hundreds of different animals; unusual ones such as kangaroos, camels and snakes, along with the dogs, cats and rabbits one might expect, each unique and with his or her own name and personality! I have even had requests for a spider, a kiwi bird and an anteater!
